Physical Therapy for Hand Pain
Hand injuries are very common and make up a large percentage of work injuries. Hand injuries can occur randomly from overuse or from a specific injury. Common hand injuries include carpal tunnel syndrome, De Quervain’s Tenosynovitis, and trigger finger. There are multiple injuries to nerves, tendons, and bones that can occur.
We utilize all the traditional modalities including ice, moist heat, electric stimulation, phonophoresis, iontophoresis, laser therapy and fluidotherapy. We also customize each person’s exercise plan to make a program that is best for you. Our therapists ask questions and love discussing your ideas as we plan and progress.
When treating hand and upper extremity injuries we also assess if bracing is appropriate. Sometimes braces are utilized to provide support to an injured area, prevent or assist motion and promote healing. Our therapists at Advanced Physical Therapy will provide standard braces or make a custom brace when needed.
Regardless of the cause of the injury an experienced physical therapist who is well versed in treatment of the hand is necessary to perform a proper evaluation and to promote healing. Advanced Physical Therapy is well versed in hand injuries and will help you get back to normal activity.
