Physical Therapy for Hip Pain

We use our hips for stability, balance, and mobility, therefore hip injuries can result in chronic pain, decreased movement, and disability. Hip pain is a common component of injuries, whether the injury is work-related, sports-related, or accident-related. Hip injuries and fractures become more common as we age due to decreased bone density and joint elasticity.  Sometimes a “tune-up” is needed and we work towards gaining back strength and flexibility.  Discussion and reassessment help us move forward.

How We Can Help

At Advanced Physical Therapy we are accustomed to treating acute and chronic hip conditions.  We routinely treat patients after hip replacements and provide reminders of standard precautions and progress a treatment plan so you can return to normal activity.  Our experience tells us that a thorough evaluation and discussion with the patient is necessary to determine the extent of an injury and rule out other contributing factors.

We know that it is important to learn what the patient’s home is like and what their goals are. Questions regarding stairs, driving, and family assistance or independent living are discussed.
